VentraIP Alternatives: Is It Time to Move Hosts?

October 14, 2026 • 3 min read • HostBible Team

Moving from VentraIP only makes sense if you have a specific reason, and the move itself is a standard cPanel migration. VentraIP is an Australian host, so this is a checklist for people who already want to leave, not an argument that they should.

Do I actually need to move?

Good reasons are concrete: you have outgrown the plan, you want a different stack or control panel, you need more resources than shared hosting gives, or you want hosting, email and migration support in one place. A vague sense that a provider is not right is worth testing first. Check your site's real speed and uptime before blaming the host, and read why a WordPress site is slow and signs you have outgrown shared hosting, because a slow site is often a plugin or image problem that follows you to any host.

What does VentraIP say about leaving?

VentraIP's transfer page, which is marketing aimed at people arriving, also describes its own terms. It says it does not use lock-in contracts, that unused time on a prepaid service can be refunded as credit to your account, and that a 45-day money-back guarantee applies to a new hosting service. It advertises hourly backups of files, folders and databases with each service. As of October 2026, the page does not explain how to export that data or how to move email or DNS, so ask support or check the control panel before relying on any of it.

Read the terms for your own plan before cancelling. Credits and refund rules can differ by product, and a domain registered through the same account is a separate decision.

How do I take the site with me?

For a cPanel account, the usual route is a full account backup or a files and database export, restored on the new host. Migrating cPanel to cPanel walks through both ways. WordPress sites can also move with a plugin, covered in migrating WordPress with Duplicator. Either way, test the copy on the new server using a temporary URL or a hosts file entry before touching DNS.

Lower your DNS TTL a day beforehand so the final switch is quick, and read how to migrate without downtime for the order of steps.

What about email and the domain?

Email is its own migration. Create the mailboxes at the new provider, copy the existing mail across with IMAP, then change the MX records last so nothing bounces in between. If your domain is registered at VentraIP too, you do not have to move it at the same time: you can point the nameservers at your new host and leave the registration where it is until you decide.

If you do want to move a .com.au registration, the auDA rules make a registrar transfer free of charge. The steps are in how to transfer a .com.au domain. This is general information, so confirm terms with VentraIP and your new provider.

Choosing where to go

Compare on what you need: support for your CMS, backups you can restore yourself, an honest renewal price, and a migration process that does not leave you doing everything. HostBible offers free migration of files, databases, email and WordPress sites, built on a staging copy while your old site stays live, plus a free SSL certificate and a 30-day money-back guarantee.
